Robert “Bob” A. Kuntz, 50, Bismarck, died Aug. 4, 2011, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit with Rev. Brian Gross officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bismarck following the funeral services. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday, August 8, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a rosary and vigil will begin at 7:00 pm. Bob was born November 6, 1960, to Thomas and Christine (Wallery) Kuntz at Richardton and grew up on a farm 18 miles south of Hebron. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1979 where he was active in football and Future Farmers of America. He attended North Dakota State School of Science, Wahpeton, graduating with a degree in plumbing and air conditioning. Bob began working at Bismarck State College as the Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer in 1987. He was in charge of new building construction, building operations, and grounds. He was very committed to campus life at Bismarck State College. He married Rosemarie Hermes on October 2, 1982, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. They became the parents of two children, Nathan and Rachell. Rosemarie was the love of his life and his best friend. They loved cruising on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Their children were the center of his world. He was involved in their activities at St. Mary’s High School, especially the soccer program. Bob loved to hunt with family and friends, always pursuing that trophy buck in the Badlands, elk and pheasants. He volunteered as a committee member for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for more than 10-years. He played softball for many years, serving as his team’s pitcher. He officiated high school football for 28 years. Bob is remembered for his sense of humor and kindness, a quiet force, one who never got too excited about anything. His favorite saying was, “It’s noon somewhere.” He was always there to offer a helping hand to family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife Rosemarie; son, Nathan (Valerie) who attends Mississippi State University; daughter, Rachell, who attends Carroll College, Helena, MT; his father, Thomas B. Kuntz, Hebron and four siblings: Linda (Duane) Sailer, Dickinson; David (Jody) Kuntz, Olathe, KS; Joni (Jim) Curl, Gainsville, FL; Tom (Leann) Kuntz, Campbell, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations in Bob’s memory to Bismarck State College Foundation where a scholarship will be established or the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
