Robert A. Dudley Sr., 81, a resident of Windsor for over 71 years, died Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. He was born and educated in Hartford, a son of the late John and Vernita (Cummings) Dudley. Bob, was employed for 44 years with the former Merrow Machine Company of Hartford from which he retired as the floor foreman. He was a member of the Poquonock Community Church and was a former Assistant Scout Master of Troop 56. Bob also was an avid board game and card player and will be remembered by his family for his many trips to the casinos. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Edith G. “Dee” (Wilshere) Dudley and leaves two children, Robert A. Dudley, Jr. and his wife Mary of Vernon, and Susan V. Dudley and her spouse Donna McDermott of East Hampton, a granddaughter, Barbara M. Dudley of Vernon; a great grandson, Jacob E. Lung of Vernon as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ronald Evans of Ellington. His funeral will be held on Sunday at 3:00 pm at the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Ave., in the Poquonock section of Windsor. Friends and relatives may call on Sunday from 1-3 pm. Burial will take place in the Spring at Palisado Cemetery in Windsor.
