Robert C. Lenardson, 85, of LaPorte, Indiana, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in LaPorte. He was born August 31, 1925 in Allegan, Michigan, the son of Harry Lenardson and Paulina (Smith) Lenardson. Robert worked as an upholster for Kingsley Furniture for nineteen years, before opening up his own upholstery shop. The Lenardson Upholstery Shop was open for over twenty-years. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Force during WW II. Robert was member of the American Legion Post #83 of LaPorte, Pinola Grange and a volunteer at the LaPorte Hospital. Robert loved gardening, he raised beautiful flowers and tomatoes. On November 26, 1947, in Battle Creek, MI, he married Wilma Barter Lenardson who preceded him in death January 21, 2006. He is survived by his daughter - Sherrie Bennitt of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons - Barry Lenardson of Green Banks, WV, Dan (Andrea) Lenardson of La Porte, IN; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Koch of Carson City, NV. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Marinda Lenardson, one grandchild, Rob Bennitt, and ten sisters and brothers. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Cremation will take place. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held with burial of ashes. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 50 E. 91st St. STE 100 Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
