Robert Dale May, age 57 of Higginsville, Missouri, formerly of Plattsburg, Missouri, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.

Born Sunday, May 10, 1953 in Plattsburg, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. May, Sr. & the late Lucille Bailey May. He married Deborah Sue Haynes on June 15, 2002.

He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Higginsville. Robert worked as a mechanic for Phillips 66 & also at Lady Baltimore in Kansas City, Missouri. He lived in most of his life in Plattsburg, moving to Higginsville in 2001.

He graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1972. He was a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and served on the Lafayette Co. Juneteenth Foundation Board.

Surviving are his wife, Susie of the home in Higginsville; brothers, Albert (Carrie) May of Denver, Colorado, Benjamin F.(Georgia) May, Jr., Floyd(Lizzie) May, Raymond May, Theron(Joy) May, Wilbert(Dixie) May, Ronnie (Bobby) May, Carl May, & Andre (Pam) May, all of Plattsburg; sister, Rosa Walker of Plattsburg; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are his parents, one brother Curtis May; &four sisters, Verna Bennett, Elmira Wallingsford, Zelia Graves, & Betty Daughtery.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 22, 2010 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Gilmore officiating, Dustin Gilmore, Organist & Janice Elmore, vocalist. Interment will be in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Plattsburg following the service.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 22, 2010, at the church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Family Choice.

Casketbearers include Kenton Stone, Anthony Stone, David May, Jerry May, Gary Graham, & Larry Graham. Honorary pallbearer is Virgil Kelley.
