Robert (Bob) Dean Parsons, Knoxville, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010. Born August 12, 1933, joined the Oak Ridge community with his family in 1945. Bob graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1952 where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. Started his career by serving in the US Army. He worked for BWI Air Lines in Miami, FL where he also owned his own gas station. He retired from a supervisory position at Y-12, Oak Ridge. Survived by his wife, Sandra Parsons and their children, Hazak, Blake, Kalissa, & Kirk; his children, Tim, Christopher, Robby, and Robin; sisters, Bettye Hawkins (JV), Knoxville, Priscilla Lingle (Nelson), Oak Ridge, and Angela Carroll, Oak Ridge; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Flois Parsons and by brothers, Clarence “Billy” S. Parsons and James A. Parsons. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, noon, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Masonic Lodge, #756 officiating. There will be a Shiva Minyan Wednesday and Thursday evening, 7 PM at Sandy’s home, 5605 Millertown Pike, Knoxville, TN 37924. Weatherford Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
