I was saddened to discover that Bob had died when I recently did an internet search for him.

Bob helped me in 1967 --- I was attending Watsonville High in 1967 when I wasn't able to stay at my uncle's house any more. I went to advise Bob that I might not be able to go to school any longer (he was a school counselor at the time), and he would have none of that! He allowed me to stay with

I was saddened to discover that Bob had died when I recently did an internet search for him.

Bob helped me in 1967 --- I was attending Watsonville High in 1967 when I wasn't able to stay at my uncle's house any more. I went to advise Bob that I might not be able to go to school any longer (he was a school counselor at the time), and he would have none of that! He allowed me to stay with him and his family for the rest of the school year, for about 3 months, and after that he arranged for me to finish high school in a special program in L.A., and when the time came, he put an application form in my hand to attend UC Santa Cruz, saying "fill this out and see what happens." Well, you know what happened, I got my BA in Psychology there and went on to Journalism School at Stanford! And no Vietnam War either!

To Audrey and the kids --- Bob was a God-send for me! In the years since he helped me I have always remembered his kindness and big heart. Bob was a very special person and I am always inspired by him. As a matter of fact, I recently retired from my federal job at the Palo Alto VA, and I am studying the test to become a Substitute Teacher at Watsonville High, our old stomping grounds!
