Robert Eugene Dean, 82, of Ironton, passed away Friday (Nov. 5, 2010) at Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Russell, KY. native was born December 12, 1927 the son of the late Benjamin Roland Dean and Clyda Ellis Dean.

Mr. Dean was a 1946 graduate of Ironton High School and of the Baptist Faith. He retired from the United States Marine Corps. in 1965 after serving 20 years and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked the next 25 years for I.B.M and retired in 1990. He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge #198 F & AM for 60 years and a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by is parents and one brother, Kenneth Dean.

He is survived by;
wife, Jean Schmidt Dean who he married September 19, 1953
daughter and son in law, Cynthia and Kenneth Koerper of Ironton, OH.
granddaughter, Rebecca Jane Wrenn of Ironton, OH.
grandson, Jeremy Wayne Wrenn of Ironton, OH.
3 step grandchildren, Kenna (Scott) Gifford, Melanie (Ben) Mullins, Melissa Koerper
5 step great grandchildren Jared and Ryan Gifford
Benjamin, Bradley and Brayden Mullins

Services will be Tuesday (Nov. 9, 2010) at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South 7th Street, Ironton,Ohio. A masonic service by Lawrence Lodge #198 F & AM will begin at 1:00P.M. and the funeral service with Rev. Dennis Strawn officiating will immediately follow. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by V.F.W. post #8850. Friends may call Tuesday from 12:00P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
