Robert Francis Tobey passed away at Tulane Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the age of 70. Bob was born on February 14, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Leola Huckabay and Edward Drake Tobey. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Evelyn Mele Tobey, and his two children, Mark Robert and Laura Quintero, his son-in-law, David A. Quintero and two adored granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth and Alison Catherine Quintero. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Marcy Tobey; two sisters-in-law, Janice Wright and Diane Tobey; two nieces, Sheri Maza and Toni Wright; and two nephews, Scott and Tim Tobey.

Bob grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Byrd High School. He received his Bachelor of Science from LSU and was an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After serving as an officer in the United States Army he moved to Houston, Texas where he worked at Cameron Iron Works. In 1976, Bob and his family moved to Metairie. He was employed by Ruiz & Mele, Inc. where he later served as president. He was an active member and elder at John Calvin Presbyterian Church.

Bob enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, gardening and American cut glass. He served on the board of the American Cut Glass Association and was an officer of the local chapter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of service.
