ROBERT GLENN PAYTON
Robert G. Payton, 77, of Independence, MO went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2012. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Floral Hills Chapel followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Glenwood Park United Methodist Church.
Robert was born July 27, 1935 in Platte County, MO to Lloyd C. and Laura Mae (Price) Payton who preceded him in death, along with a brother, James Calvin Payton. He attended North Kansas City High School. Bob retired from Missouri Gas Energy in 1999 after 35 years from a job that he loved. He was a member of the Glenwood Park United Methodist Church for many years and served in many areas. He volunteered as a Youth Pal (reading program).
Bob was a Boy Scout Leader for many years, a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and coached baseball and football. He loved all sports.
He leaves his wife, Della R. (Cecil) Payton, 4 children, Steve Payton, David Payton (Lana), Lloyd Payton(Martine), Gina Payton-Olmo, 8 grandchildren, Kendra Payton, Robbie Payton, Josh Payton, Samantha Campfield, Felipi Olmo, Alejandro Olmo, Joey Karl and Jacob Karl and many loving nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by many good friends and especially his beloved dog, Pumpkin.
