Harber, Robert E. passed away Friday December 30, 2011. He was born October 08, 1922 in Redfield, Kansas to Clarence Lee and Lila Mae Quick Harber. He graduated from Fort Scott High School and Ft. Scott Junior College, and then went to work for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, Maryland. He was drafted in 1943 and served in the Navy for two years as a aircraft mechanic. Robert returned to Kansas and attended the University of Wichita, where he received a degree in accounting in 1948 and started a career with the Internal Revenue Service, working in both Wichita and Salina. In1948 he married Dorothy Virginia Penn, also from Redfield. They raised three sons, Dale, Roger, and Brian. Robert retired from the IRS in 1979 and became an avid golfer. And enjoyed traveling with Dorothy. In 1988 Dorothy passed away suddenly. In 1990 Robert married Violet Tomkins of Newton, and moved to Newton. Violet passed away in 2007. Robert is survived by his sons, Dale, Roger and Brian, a granddaughter and two grandsons; sisters, Lois Smith and Elizabeth Lundberg and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by in death by his first wife Dorothy and second wife Violet, his parents, brother Russell, and sister Ruth Christophersen. Visitation will be Wednesday January 04, 2011 from 10:00am- 2:00pm with services following at 2:00pm. Both at Lakeview Funeral Home. In liue of flowers memorial contributions may be made to donors chosice.
