Robert J. Jochens, Jr., 79, of the 2200 block of Wildwood Road, Chesapeake, VA, passed away April 11, 2010, in his home. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Lula Mae and Robert J. Jochens, Sr., and the widower of Donna Jean Jochens. He was a founding partner of Boulevard Motors in Portsmouth, VA. He was Past Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias and a recipient of the The Golden Spur, a member of American Legion and a former Chesapeake volunteer fireman. He was a US Naval veteran of the Korean War, BM3, U.D.T. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah J. Hand and husband Keith of Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Robert J. Jochens, III and wife Janice of South Mills, NC and Jeffrey W. Jochens of Chesapeake, VA; six grandchildren, Stephanie M. Hand, Rachel S. Hand, Amanda J. Hand, Mark Caldwell, Stephen Caldwell and Sherrie Caldwell; a great granddaughter, Baylee Jean Elizabeth; two sister-in-laws, Mary Jochens of Norfolk, VA and Barbara Callis of Suffolk, VA; and nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel with Pastor James Rushing, Jr. officiating. The burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
