Mr. Robert John Kirkland Hart

Hart- Robert John Kirkland of Vero Beach, FL died on September 10, 2009 at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. He was 93.

Beloved husband of Marian Hodges Hart, his wife of 62 years. Devoted father of Mimi, Bobby, John and Charlie. Loving grandfather to Schuyler, Nancy, James and Gifford.

Bob was a graduate of Deerfield Academy and Princeton University, class of 1940. He served in World War II as captain in the 18th field artillery battalion, fighting in all five campaigns in the European theater, earning a purple heart and two bronze medals.

He was vice-president of Valley Metallurgical in Essex, Connecticut, and was also founder and President of Hart Metals, Inc. in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, retiring after 30 years at the age of 80.

Bob lived with his family in Lawrence, New York until he and his wife moved to Vero Beach, Florida. Always an avid golfer, he continued to play and shoot his age until the age of 91!

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 15th September at 10 am at Holy Cross Church at the corner of Iris Lane and A1A.
