Robert L. "Baldy" Stinson

When you and my Mom got married you took over the job as my dad, which was never required of you- but you did it whole heartly-you have always been there for me through ups and downs, ins and outs and I will always love you for that. I will miss you till the day I die. Thank you for always being there for me, when others would not. My heart aches for the loss we have had in losing you. You were a great addition to our family and I am proud to call you my DAD!

When it came down to the real deal the time you actually placed me on a horse at your farm, I was horrified! I really enjoyed every time we visited as youngsters. The memories I have from those time's will never be forgotten.
I am sorry for your loss Aunt Patty. I hope you know that even though we are not around the Quad Cities any longer our hopes and prayers are with you. God blessed you with a long life with Baldy. I can only hope that I would be given the same. Love, Kressa and Family

Patty and family,
I was saddened to read of Baldy's death. However, it brought back memories of visits at the Andover post office and other places in town. i remember particularly Baldy's smile and laugh as we talked.
Patty, I also fondly remember you and your questions that you dared to ask.
To you all I will pray for you. May your grief and loss move to a time when your memories will will bring not tears but the deeper peace of appreciation.

Great Uncle Bob attended the birth of our first son, Robert, in Des Moines 2004. After the delivery, while his grand niece was recovering, great uncle Bob, my father in law, and I went outside the hospital where Bob broke out a flask of whiskey and a Cuban cigar. I was fresh back from Afghanistan and still in my desert flight suit enjoying the company of Bob, Ken, and a fine drink and a finer cigar. Bob was a good soul and will be missed by all of us. The world is a lesser place with his passing.

I grew up in Lynn Center and remember Baldy with fond memories. Everett Swanson, my brother, was a good friend of Baldy so I heard many good stories of he and his goats through the years. Sadly, Ev left us last August. Last time I visited with Baldy he was umpiring a baseball game at Andover base ball field. As usual he was having a good time. Condolences to you also, Cecil.

Joe and I have a particular memory of Baldy at a dairy goat show in Cambridge -- we think it was 2007 -- probably one of the last shows where Baldy was walking some of his beautiful Toggenburgs around the ring. One of the reasons we remember that show is because Stephen Richter was judging . . . and Baldy & Steve were visiting and laughing about goats and whatever.
