Gallegos, Robert Lee
Robert Gallegos, 64, died January 3rd, 2012 in Houston, TX with his wife, daughter and friends by his side. He was born July 1947 in Springer, NM to Natividad and Frances Gallegos. He grew up in Northern New Mexico until his family moved to Albuquerque in 1957. Robert Served in the Marine Corps and attended the University of New Mexico for History and Liberal Arts. He married Kathryn White in June 1972 and worked for the State of New Mexico until his retirement with the NM State Treasurers office in 2006. Robert was an active member of Desert Springs Church where he devoted much of his time and effort. He was an avid sportsman and collector. Robert was also active in politics and was a member of the Democratic Party of NM where he served on NM State Central Committee for several years. Robert is survived by his wife, Kathryn and four children- Christina and husband Jesus; Melissa; Samantha and fiance Daniel; son Tyree; six grandchildren- Saul, Jaide, Caleb, Hazel, Holly and Madison; mother Frances and six siblings. He was preceded in death by his father and six siblings. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd, Albuquerque, NM. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:00 am at Desert Springs Church, 705 Osuna Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM, Pastor Kelly officiating. A reception will be held at the church immediately following services. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM., at a later date. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Desert Springs Church. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Steven Curley and his team of doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their loving care and continued fight against Robert's cancer. Also, a special thanks to Arthur Gradi, Marvin Gibson and Joe Romero for their support and fellowship to Robert in the hospital.
