COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Robert Leo Grow, 82, will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, January 23, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11-12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Grow, husband of Dorothy Southern, of Chapin, crossed over into his new life Thursday, January 19, 2012. Born September 18, 1929 in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was a son of the late Herschel Melvin and Pearl Macy Muncie Grow. Mr. Grow worked as a manufacturing manager with Rockwell International and Porter Cable Corporation. He retired from Porter Cable Corporation and was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman.
Surviving are his wife of Chapin, daughter, Kathy Jordan-Rawers of Mount Pleasant; daughter-in-law, Gerry Grow, of Columbia; grandchildren, Justin B. (Suzanne) Bowers of Bluffton, Ashley B. (Brad) Jones, of Mount Pleasant, Chelsea Grow of Columbia; great-grandchildren, Abby, Leah Bowers of Bluffton and Holland Jones of Charleston; step-son, Billy Southern (Kathy) of Naples, Fla.; step-daughter, Jody (Ted) Hill of Dayton, Ohio, Jamie (Andy) Elliott of Chilicothe, Ohio, many step-grand and great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Felicia) Grow of Dayton, Ohio, Donald (Phyllis) Lucas of Miamisburg, Ohio, John (Annie) Weksler of Littleton, Colo. In addition to his first wife, Nancy Carol Lewis Grow and his parents, he was predeceased by son, Douglas M. Grow, daughter, Diane Carol Grow, brother, Harold Grow, sisters, Bernice Grow Wolfe and Opal Grow Cook.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. William Butler and the staff of South Carolina Oncology and Tidewater Hospice for their loving care and support.
