Mr. Robert P. Donahue, 84 years of Nahant, died Thursday, June 7, 2012 in a local nursing home after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Brdecka) Donahue. He was born in Lynn, the son of the late James and Elsie (Duncan) Donahue. He was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. He moved to Nahant in 1956. He was a Marine Corp Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed scuba diving, sky diving, and sailing. He was an avid reader and an active bicycle rider. He was a member of the Nahant Knights of Columbus. Bob loved the ocean, outdoors and animals. He enjoyed his time around Nahant with friends and family. Mr. Donahue was a lineman for National Grid and Mass Electric, the former Lynn Electric. He retired in the 1990's, after 30 years of service. Mr. Donahue is survived by a son, Robert P. Donahue of Nahant, a daughter, Patricia A. Belliveau of Melbourne Beach, FL, a granddaughter, Tara Halstead and her husband Scott of Hamilton, MA, two great grandchildren Austin and Ava Halstead. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He is the father of the late Cindy A. Donahue. He is the brother of the late Stella Hansen, Richard, Thomas and James Donahue. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean Street (Rte 1A) Lynn . Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery Nahant. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4 :00 to 8:00 PM.
