Robert "Poppy" Parks, 70 , of Owensboro died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born May 10, 1938, in Indianapolis. He was a retired mechanic from Pinkerton Tobacco and a member of Phillips Chapel Church and Yellowbanks Masonic Lodge No. 957. He was a Marine Corps veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Parks Sr. and Lily May Lanham Parks; his son, Erick Parks; and his tow sisters, Mary Margaret St. Clair and Betty Perry.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Y. Martin Parks; daughters and son-in-law Ginger and Richard Leonard of Columbia, S.C. Jamie Rena and Michael Pollock of Owensboro, Katherine Ramos of Owensboro and Lisa M. Hill of Owensboro; a son, Sim Robert Parks of Columbia; a stepson, Alberto Ramos Jr. of Livermore; grandchildren Shawn Rinneburger, Bianca Goodman, Kayla Ramos, Destiny Key and Tristan and Michael Lee Pollock; a special niece, LaDonna Martin of Tennessee; brothers, Hugh William Parks of Owensboro and Kenneth Parks of Georgia; sisters Nancy I. Townsend of Arizona and Bonnie Rawls of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 10:00a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home, with Alva Sutton and Jamie Pollock officiating. Visitation is from 3 to 8p.m. Tuesday and after 8a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Robert A.
