I got to know Robert Finley through my father. My dad talked about his high school friend all the time. Although I never met Robert until I was 15 years old I felt as if I had known him all my life. In the spring of 1988 Robert invited my dad and I to go turkey hunting with him and his nephew. We went to the Snow Lake area. The first day of the big hunt, Trey, Roberts newhew and my dad each got a turkey. Robert and I didn't get anything. We went back home empty handed. Two weeks later Robert invited me to go back to Snow Lake with him. With my parents blessing I went back with Robert to the same area that we had previously visited. We didn't see any turkeys, but I had spent the whole day with Robert. Even though we came back empty handed, I have fond memories of that hunting trip. I loved listening to Robert's hunting stories, and believe me he had many.

Over the years I didn't see too much of Robert, however my dad mentioned his name everytime he ran in to him. When my grandmother died this last Christmas I spoke with Robert for what turned out to be the last time that I would see Robert alive. We talked about guns, what else? Robert always had interesting stories with any thing having to do with hunting. Robert, I'll always remember you. "Vaya con Dios"

Hi Aunt Kathy!

The memory I wanted to share is when we were all at Grandma and Grandpa's 60th wedding Anniversary and the Alan Jackson song "Chattahoochee" started playing. Uncle Bob who was in the dancing mood asked me to dance. It was the only time I really danced with Uncle Bob so I did my best to keep up with his style of the two-step and now always smile and even let out a little chuckle when I hear the song on the radio. It will always be a favorite memory for me!

I've known Bob Finley for about 65 years. We went to elementary school, to junior high school and high school together. We even made our First Holy Communion together. We lived right across the street from each other, so we spent alot of time with each other - just hanging out. We starting drinking beer sometime during our high school years. Bob and I along with our other friends, Gil Sammons, Gil Gutierrez, Gil Gonzales and Ed Montoya hung out

We lived right across the street from each other, so we spent alot of time with each other - just hanging out. We starting drinking beer sometime during our high school years. Bob and I along with our other friends, Gil Sammons, Gil Gutierrez, Gil Gonzales and Ed Montoya hung out together through out our high school careers and some of us really liked our beer. Our high school years were very memorable times for all of us. We all thought that we were the best lovers and the best and toughest guys around - it was all in fun.

Bob was the hunter and fisherman and before long he had all of hunting and fishing. We had some great times going on hunting and fishing trips. When it came for anything having to do with hunting and fishing, Bob was the leader. We even learned to reload our own shot gun shells.

When we graduated from high school, we all spread our wings and went where the four winds took us. Some of us hardly saw each other after that, however Bob and I seemed to hold on to our fantastic friendship. I'll never forget the memories and good times that I had with my great friend Bob.

Skip Finley. I also had the great opportunity to grow up and hunt with Skip. I will
never forget the great times at the cabin and the great things the Finley family taught me. It is those experiences that are a great part of who I am today. I would like to send my condolences on behalf of my Uncle Joe. His health doesn't allow him to leave home these days, but he loves all the family and sends his deepest sympathy.

Kathy, Dolores and I are very sorry for your loss. I knew bob from the wrestling team at AHS, and of course we reconnected at our 50th reunion. Our prayers are with you and your family.

How about the New Years Eve celebrations, complete with too much alcohol ?
Or Bob & I trying to make a “citizens arrest” on the stolen safe crackers we discovered
In the Bosque while we were bird hunting..
Or the 2 week vacation the four of us spent in Bobs “63 Chevy SS in Wyoming…
Kathy eyeball to eyeball with the bear in Yellowstone ….. Me ALWAYS drawing the short Straw for the small or non-existant bed… … Or how about the many trips to Ruidoso forThe horse races ( being the big gamblers we were)……..complete with Kathy “the shoplifter”
All over a bottle of lotion.. Ah yes,.. the memory of Bob trying to get his first winning Ticket out of his shirt pocket, with his hand shaking so much from excitement (total win $6.00)
These are but a few of the many memories I hold of time spent with BOB.
