Robert Preston Weesner was born the son of Rolland and Lula Sanborn Weesner on September 13, 1930 at the family farm just south of Stuart, Iowa and died at the Adel Acres Care Center in Adel, Iowa of cancer on Friday February 7, 2003 at the age of 73 years 4 months and 25 days. Bob graduated from the Dexter High School in 1948. Bob attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and graduated with a dregree in Pharmaceutical Science in 1952. Bob briefly worked at a pharmacy in Red Oak, Iowa before returning to Dexter where he went to work for Isenberg Pharmacy. On October 19, 1952 Bob and Marjorie McKenzie were married at the Baxter, Iowa Congregational Church. This union was blessed with three children: Jo Ellen, Jane and June. Bob would eventually become a partner with the Isenberg Pharmacy and in 1976 bought the business which he owned and operated until his death. In later years, Bob expanded his business to include historical pictures and picture post cards. Bob was considered to be the local Dexter historian. He had many pictures of old historical buildings, events such as the "National Plowing Match", "Bonnie and Clyde", "The Round House", just to name a few. Bob ws a member of the Dexter Methodist Church and often served as a lay minister. He was very active in the Masons. He was a member of the Adel Masonic Lodge AM & FM, the Winterset Eastern Star Lodge # 80, The Des Moines Consistory, The Des Moines Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and was Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, Past Master of the Masons, as well as other various offices. Bob was a board member of the Dexter Round House and the Dexter Museum. He was past President of the Des Moines Philatelic Society. Bob and Marjorie loved to travel and had been in every state except Hawaii, Alaska and Florida. Bob loved to meet people and to visit with them. Bob leaves the following family to celebrate his life: wife Marjorie Weesner of Dexter, Iowa; daughter Jo Ellen Czuhajewski and husband Don of Kalamazoo, Michigan; daughter June Janssen of Dexter, Iowa; brother Jack Weesner and wife Sandy of Waukee, Iowa; sister-in-law Carol Piatt and husband Warren of Dexter, Iowa; grandchildren Charles Janssen, Ryan Janssen, Nicole Czuhaewski and Amy Czuhewski. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Jane Weesner, and a brother Max Weesner. Funeral services were held at the Dexter Methodist Church at 10:30 Am in Dexter, Iowa. Rev. Kirk Seagren officited with Robert Lawson playing the organ. Niece Cathy Van Hove played a long-time family favorite piano solo named "Trees". The congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" The pallbearers were: Chuck Weesner, Cathy Van Hove, David Weesner, Mary Neyens, Robin Spear, Don Czuhaewski, Byron Weesner, Steve Sanborn. The honorary pallbearers were: Ed Love, Dean Krueger, Russ Johnson, Don Stiles, and Sam Buck. A Masonic Service was held the night of visitation at 7:00 Pm with Frank Coulter of Linden, Iowa presiding. There were 10 Masons present, with approx. 45 persons in attendance. Interments services were conducted at the Dexter Cemetery folling the service.
