Grandpa,
I will always remember how you´d call just to tell us “Dancing with the Stars” was on, but I will cherish how you always referred to me as `mija Monica`.
I will always remember how you called a text message a “tex mex”, but I will cherish how happy you got whenever I called.
I will always remember how much you loved cars, but I will cherish the times you got on dad for driving too fast in your car :)
I will always remember how you called my glass of wine, me “hitting the jug”, but I will cherish your good humor.
I will always remember how you supported me going to Spain even though you didn´t like me being far away, but I will cherish how you wrote out a prayer for me and prayed it every night.
I will always remember how you would say that “you loved me too much”, but I will cherish how I knew you meant it and always showed it.
Grandpa, thank you for coming to visit us whenever you could, especially when I would come home. You have given me many happy and funny memories to remember you by. Thank you for your beautiful smile, laughs, jokes, and most of all… all the love you gave and showed us. You were an amazing grandpa. On earth I was your angel, and now you are mine. I´ll always love you and never forget you!

Rodrigo Pacheco, 72, died January 19, 2012, with his family by his side in Fresno, California. After being diagnosed with colon cancer and given only six months to live, his constant good humor helped as he overcame that expectancy and lived four more years.

He was born on March 13, 1939, in Deming, New Mexico. He served two years in the National Guard before becoming a miner for Union Carbide in Bishop, California. After retirement from Union Carbide, he worked for the Kerman Unified School District for ten years.

He enjoyed classic cars and being with his family. He was a generous, good humored, and, most of all, loving family man.

He is survived by his longtime companion Irene Tovar; his three children from a former marriage to Olalla Pacheco, Esther, Roy, and Roque; one son-in-law, Alfredo; two daughters-in-law, Beatrice Pacheco and Rachel Saavedra; and his seven grandchildren, Monica, Freddy, Vincent, Sandy, Carly, Gilbert, and Monique.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January, 27, 2012 at Palm La Paz Funeral Home in Fresno, California.
