Roger Jack Esquer passed away due to natural causes on December 5, 2011 at the age of 73 surrounded by his family. Roger was born on November 14, 1938 in Los Angeles, California. He lived a long and fulfilling life with his wife Connie and the family that they built. Roger is survived by his five children and 11 grandchildren who will always be a testament to the core values he lived by - Family, Love, and Faith.
Throughout his life Roger was an avid L.A. sports fan. From the Dodgers to the Lakers to watching his grandson Anthony play baseball, Roger always enjoyed sports. He was a die-hard Rams fan, that is, until they left L.A. After that he always wanted them to lose. Along with L.A. sports Roger was very involved in his community. He took the lead on various social issues, most prominently as the founding member of P.R.O.U.D. (Pico Rivera Owners United Drive), which was a grass roots activist group that protected the community rights.
Professionally, Roger embodied the entrepreneurial spirit of the American Dream. His specialty was building custom furniture and he and his wife Connie eventually started their own business, "Unique Design". They went on to enjoy 20 years of success and the custom furniture that they built is still in many of the homes of their family today.
God was always at the center of Roger's life. He and Connie took great pride raising their 5 children in a Faith-Filled home with the Lord at the center. Roger went on to touch the lives of each of his 11 grandchildren in their spiritual journeys and was a great example of what it meant to unconditionally love God.
Roger's greatest Love was the Family he built and their time spent together. Roger met his wife Connie when they were both 14 and they went on to enjoy 55 years of marriage. In those years they had five children and then 11 grandchildren. His love, dedication, and loyalty to his Wife and to his Family was a great example to all of us. We take great comfort knowing Roger is now re-united with his Wife in Heaven.
