Mr. Roland M. Olson, 75, of Mill Creek, Indiana, passed away Saturday November 20, 2010 at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle, IN. He was born February 10, 1935 in Mill Creek, Indiana, the son of Guy Olson and Eva (Miller) Olson. Roland worked in the maintenance department for twenty-five years for the Whirlpool Corp, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Sauktown Church of Christ, Farm Bureau, Gleaners, and Moose Lodge. Roland enjoyed wood working, fishing, traveling, gardening and the outdoors. On April 21, 1973, in La Porte, IN, he married Shirley Trumbull Olson who survives. He is also survived by his son - Steve (Tina) Olson of Three Oaks, MI; four- daughters - Linda Holbrook of Kendallville, IN, Donna (Ed) Wilken of Avon, IN, Gail (Lynn) Flora of Culver, IN, Tara (Kerry) Heisler of Monterey, IN; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, and one sister Shirley Doms of Mill Creek, IN. Roland was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roland Ray Olson, and one brother, Melvin Olson. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. where the family will receive friends Tuesday, November 23, 2010 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 10:00 am, until time of services. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Howard Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Sauktown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sauktown Church of Christ Building Fund.
