Roland Martinez, age 69, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

A visitation will be held at 5:00 - 8:00 pm with the Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, July 5th at the Ramsey Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 6th at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, Texas. Burial will follow at Our Lady Of The Rosary Cemetery in Georgetown.

He was born September 10, 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas to Gilbert and Zulema (Arredondo) Martinez. On February 20, 1965 in Port Arthur he married the love of his life Sherry Bourque and celebrated 48 ½ years of marriage together. He received his BS degree from the University of Houston and was employed by Schlumberger Well Services in Houston (1966) and transferred to Austin, Texas (1982) as an Engineer. After 39 years with the company, Roland retired in 2005. Roland loved snow skiing, golfing, motorcycle riding with his buddies, and working on and restoring his 1981 GMC pickup. He always enjoyed traveling and vacationing with Sherry. His greatest joy was being with his family, especially his three grandchildren, Hannah, Justin, and Joaquin. He was a member of the Knights Of Columbus where he served three years as a Trustee. Roland was a member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Andice, Texas.

Survivors include his wife Sherry Martinez of Georgetown, Texas; sons, Robert Martinez and wife Heather of Georgetown, Texas, Brian Martinez and wife Luisa of Round Rock, Texas; father, Gilbert T. Martinez of Tomball, Texas; brothers, Nick Martinez of Spring, Texas, Joel Martinez of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Gracie Garcia of Houston, Texas, Belinda Sifferd of Magnolia, Texas, Leticia Vela of Spring, Texas; granddaughter, Hannah Martinez of Georgetown, Texas; grandsons, Justin Martinez of Georgetown, Texas, and Joaquin Martinez of Round Rock, Texas.

Preceding him in death was his mother, Zulema Martinez; sister, Belinda Rose; brother, Robert R. Martinez; and niece, Krista Sifferd.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Chuck Sifferd, Bobby Simon, Terry Mayhew, Servando Ramos, Jay Livaudais, Lonnie Gaspard, Mike McMaster, and Scott Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Obst, Jim Leach, John Shultzabarger, Mark Ramos, Robert Klark, Mark Watson and Chris Craven.
