Ronald D. Thwing, 78, of Lapeer for 50 years formerly of Millington, died Friday, March 1, 2013. Ronald was born July 8, 1934 in Flint to parents Fay Milford and Dorcas (Reynolds) Thwing. He married Patricia G. Rossman on December 29, 1954 in Millington. Mr. Thwing proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Berlin occupation in the 50's. He returned to complete his schooling, then teach and coach for Lapeer Community Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1993. For that reason, Ron was a member of M.A.R.S.P., L.E.A. and M.E.A. His passion truly lied with his family; from traveling the world with his wife, Patricia, to spending as much time with his grandchildren as possible, especially following their athletics. He loved his family. Ronald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia, children: Paul (Julie) Thwing of Davison, Timothy Thwing of Troy, Susan Thwing of Rochester, Ronald A. (Lori) Thwing of Grand Rapids, grandchildren: Erica, Audrey, Daniel, Joseph, Lynsey, Zachary, Mackenzie, Ian, Konur and Malindi, great-grandchildren: Christian, Evann and Donovin, sisters: Joyce (Earl) Koch of Millington and Nel (David) Gleason of Lapeer. Mr. Thwing was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial gathering will take place 2:00-8:00PM Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. A private interment of the cremated remains will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions made to Alzheimer's Association, for dementia research. www.MuirBrothersLapeer.com
