HYDE PARK - Ronald C. Harris Jr., 45, a lifelong Hyde Park resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, March 26, 2004 in Hyde Park. He was employed by Jim Murphy Construction in Millbrook and previously worked for the Hyde Park Central School District for nineand-a-half years. He attended F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park. Born in Poughkeepsie on July 14, 1958, he was the son of Ronald C. Harris Sr. and Gertrude Jones Brenner. His parents survive in Hyde Park. On June 14, 1981, he married Dawn Arvanetes in Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park. Mrs. Harris survives at home. To know him was to love him. Ron thrived in life, and cherished every moment of it. His presence was known in all things he did. He was a generous man with a gentle heart and a gracious smile. He was a devoted husband, son and brother, and also a dedicated father and uncle. He was a "handyman extraordinaire" who utilized his favorite tools, his hands. He also founded his own place to work and play, Barnyard Customs. I Inspired by the open road and an American legend, his admiration of motorcycles was transformed into the passion of his life. He lived to ride and rode to live with his family and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons, Andrew and Austin Harris, both at home; one brother, William Harris and his wife, Terri, of Woodridge, N.Y.; two sisters, Jill Tierney and her husband, Brian, of Hyde Park and Jackie Murphy and John DiSantis, both of Rhinebeck; four nieces, Ashley and Jenna Harris, Cheryl Tierney and Johnna Murphy; one nephew, Matthew Tierney; maternal grandmother, Frances Jones of Hyde Park; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Marie Arvanetes of Rhinecliff; his brotherin-law, Nicholas Arvanetes of Rhinecliff; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, William F. Jones; and paternal grandparents, Harold and Ethel Harris. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 31, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sweet?s Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Fiet officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Hyde Park.
