Dr. Ronald J. Lyss, 78, formerly of Moline, died March 17th at Emeritus at Chestnut Hill, Columbus, Ohio.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 24th at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd, 6601 38th, Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
Dr. Lyss was born November 3, 1933 to Frank and Gladys (Joneson) Lyss in Moline. He was a graduate of Moline High School, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and Palmer College of Chiropractic. After graduating in Nebraska, he started his career with Westinghouse in Pennsylvania. Later he became a draftsman for Deere & Co. in East Moline then taught drafting for Black Hawk College. While teaching he attended Palmer Chiropractic, graduating in 1977 at the age of 43. Opening his Chiropractic office in Rock Island then Moline, he practiced for over 30 years. He married JoAnn Vrana on June 9, 1956 in Lincoln Nebraska. He was a member of Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, Iowa and was a former member of First Evangelical Free Church in Moline.
He is survived by his children Rhonda (Ed) Flood of Berwyn, IL, Reva (Rob)Bowker of St. Peters, MO, Dr. Roger (Elizabeth) Lyss of Gahanna, OH, Renee (Mohamed) Kasheer of Columbus, OH. Grandchildren Janea, Keith, EJ, Matthew Flood; Brian, Peter, Lana, James Bowker; Dan, Andrew, Rebecca Lyss; and Shareef and Nezaar Kasheer. Great-Grandchildren Tristan and Abigale Flood. He is also survived by his sister Norma Najim of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn.
