Ronald P. Immoos, 72, of Benton Harbor, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Fr. William J. Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Berrien County Sherriff Dept. Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to the Berrien County Cancer Service. Immediately following the service there will gathering of family and friends at the FOP Lodge #96. Those wishing to sign Ron's Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Ron was born September 30, 1939 in Atlanta, GA to Charles & Dorothy (Mitchel) Immoos. His family moved to Coloma in 1947 where he attended Coloma High School, earned an Associate's Degree from Lake Michigan College, and served his country in the US Army. Ron began his career in law enforcement with the Berrien County Sherriff Dept. in 1963. In 1966 he joined the Benton Twp. Police Dept. and in 1969 rejoined Berrien County, retiring as Lieutenant in 1992. Following retirement from law enforcement, Ron worked for Helena Chemical Co. in Watervliet from 1993 until 2000. On September 10 2011 he married the former Theresa Angelo in Benton Harbor. Ron was a member of American Legion Post #105 and FOP Lodge #96.
Ron is survived by his wife Theresa; four daughters-Rhonda Immoos of Benton Harbor, Toni (Dale Lafayette) Immoos of St. Joseph, Nikki (Duane) Brown of Benton Harbor, Andrea Immoos of Benton Harbor; his friend & former wife Martha Immoos of St. Joseph; four grandchildren-Cassie, Maddie, Nicholas & Nathan; two great-grandchildren-Malik & Anthony; and his sister Lillian Carter of New Bern, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Victoria, and two brothers-David & Victor Immoos.
