Mrs. Rosa Lee Mathis Collins "Rose" of Jonesville went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday Oct. 29 at her home. She was born September 14, 1945 in Wilkes County to Garland and Vertie Mae Mathis. All who knew her would say that Rose was a rare flower, as her name indicates, blooming where ever she went, always bright and colorful. She had a deep love for her family, friends, and Lord. She will be treasured in our hearts and memories as the best wife, mother, nanny, and sister. She is preceded in death by her parents, a special uncle, Carl Mathis, a jovial brother-in-law, Roby Brown. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Larry Collins, daughter Sarcanda Green (Andy), daughter Heather Johnson (Scott), grandson Zane Green, and step-grandchildren Thomas, Patrick, and Kaitlin Johnson. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Joann Brown (late Roby Brown), RG Mathis (Elizabeth), Lib Groce (Roger), Ray Mathis (Dorry), Tony Mathis (Brenda), and Rex Mathis. Many nieces and nephews are left to remember their "Aunt Rosie" The family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home, Elkin, NC on Friday, November 1st from 6:00-8:00p.m.. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am, Saturday, November 2nd at Arlington Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Groce and Rev. Marty Nixon officiating. Mrs. Collins will lie in state from 10:30-11:00a.m, prior to the service. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, Jonesville, NC. Memorials can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, who provided their love, support, and care for Rose and her family.
