Rose Ann Smith Hawkinberry, 65, of Fairmont died on September 17, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 15, 1944 in Marion County, a daughter of the late Hurley Howard Smith and Hilda H. Grottendike Smith.
Rose Ann graduated from St. Peter’s High School. She was previously a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. She worked in a variety of jobs but most loved her work as a beautician.
Rose Ann enjoyed life to the fullest with her husband by camping, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. She especially loved and enjoyed her time with her grandchildren. She loved her beautiful dog “Max” whom she affectionately referred to as “Boogaloo”.
Rose Ann is survived by her loving husband Robert “Skip” Hawkinberry; her brother Robert H. H. Smith of Fairmont; her sister Thelma Jean Smith McDaniel and her husband Bruce of Fairmont; her daughters Theresa Krall and her husband Frank of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania, Melanie Welch and her husband Jason of Morgantown, Deanna Niechwadowicz and her husband John of Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, Crystal Dudash and her husband David of Farmington, Terri Sawyers and her husband Doug of Haymarket, Virginia and Traci Bundy and her husband Chad of Fairmont; her grandchildren Cory Krall, Erik Niechwadowicz, Hallie Niechwadowicz, Meagan Niechwadowicz, Holly Dudash, Brent Dudash, Kurt Dudash, Jenny Bundy, Andrew Bundy, Samantha Sawyers and Abigail Sawyers and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Dean Rogers.
Friends and family may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 2:00pm with Reverend Larry Harker officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
