Rose was born on February 18, 1918 in American Fork, Utah to George Alfred and Elisabeth Cousin Conder.
She was the 11th of 12 children and was the last surviving member of her family as both her parents and all her siblings preceded in her in death. Rose died on May 28, 2011. She attended school and graduated from the American Fork High School.
She met the love of her life at a dance and married Dean C. Lewis in the American Fork Tabernacle on May 27, 1937. On their 26th anniversary they were endowed and sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on May 27, 1963.
Rose and Dean had two children, William Dean Lewis and Richard Clyde Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband; youngest son, Richard; 1 granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter. She is survived by her eldest son, William (Georgianna) Lewis of St. George, Utah. She has eight grandchildren, Jolene (Ken) Crawforth, Brenda (Steve) Marshall, George (Cathy) Lewis, Robert (Theresa) Lewis, Roberta (Chris) Jessup, Mike (Triva) Lewis, Steve (Ramona) Lewis, Susan (Richard) Gerdes, 38 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
Rose spent most of her working career in the automobile dealership business, starting as a switchboard operator at the old Petty Motor Co. in Sugar House and ending as the office manager at Larson Ford Motor Co. in Murray, Utah.
Rose met and married Cecil B. Jacobson in the Jordan River Temple in South Jordan for time. He died on October 10, 2002. The spent ten years of good company for each other. They both like to travel and traveled extensively throughout the world during their 10 years together.
Rose sold her home in Orem, Utah and moved to St. George to be near her son, William. At first she had doubts about living full time in St. George as she had spent her entire life living in northern Utah. When she retired she and Dean bought a place in Yuma, Arizona and spent their winters there. After she married Cecil they spent their winters in St. George. It took some time to get used to living in St. George on a full time basis but she did come to love it as she had a nice home and wonderful neighbors and loved her church.
The family would like to thank all her many friends from her ward and also the nurses and nursing staff at the St. George Care Center whom lovingly looked after her for almost 1 ½ years. We are grateful.
Services will be held in Salt Lake at the Cottonwood Memorial Mortuary, 4670 So. Highland Dr. on Friday, June 3rd, 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 -8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
