Rose M. Constance, 85, of 428 W. Michigan Street, Marquette, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Marquette General Hospital following a brief illness. Her husband and children were at her side. Rose was born on March 5, 1926 in Ewen, Michigan to Henry and Marie (Raymond) Dionne. The family moved to Marquette shortly thereafter. Rose graduated from the Ursuline Academy of St. Ignace in 1944. She married Donald Constance on June 21, 1947 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marquette. Rose was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a loyal friend to many. She is survived by her husband, Donald; two daughters, Diana Constance of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Beverly (Wallace) Teal of Sequim, WA; three sons, Richard (Mary) Constance, Whitehall, MI, Joe (Ann) Constance, Marquette, and Bruce Constance of Farmington Hills, MI; two grandsons, Adam and Alex Constance of Marquette; two granddaughters, Briana (Jeff) Woolfall, Denver, CO and Andrea (Brian Carter) Constance, Portland, OR. Rose is also survived by her brother, Henry (Helen) Dionne, Milwaukee, WI; also three sisters, Gladys Eaton, Renton, WA, Margaret (Randy) Black, Escanaba, MI and Irene (Clayton) Brown, Marquette. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Hartung and brothers, Norbert and Paul Dionne. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 noon in St. Peter's Cathedral with the Rev. John Boyle officiating. Friends may call at the Bishop's Room of the cathedral beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass. Burial will take place in the Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Mayhew, Ed Wales, Terry Copp, Walter Cook, Mike Shimon and Dick Kortum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, 2610 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447-4752 or Upper Peninsula Diabetes Outreach Network (UPDON), 121 N. Front, Suite B, Marquette, MI 49855.
