Rose Marie (Padre) Anderson Leal Rose Marie (Padre) Anderson Leal, 83, died unexpectedly Friday, January 13, 2012 at Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was born in Ilhavo, Portugal on June, 8th 1928, the daughter of the late Jose and Mary (Bartlo) Padre. Mrs. Leal came to Gloucester by boat when she was 12 but spent the majority of her life raising her family in Rockport. She was a graduate of Gloucester High School and was later employed and sent to school by the Chrysler Motors Corp. In her younger years, she enjoyed oil painting, being a member of the Cape Ann Stripers Club and fishing on her boat the Rosita. A lover of animals, she would watch the birds and squirrels from her kitchen, always feeding them and even naming one woodpecker, Herman, who visited her often. For the past several years she was a faithful employee of the Seaward Inn on Marmion Way in Rockport. She took great pride in her position, Chief Executive of Financial Affairs. One of her greatest accomplishments was the creation of the Sunday Morning Live Music Series. She enjoyed recruiting musicians from all over the world, some as far as Norway. She was extremely well versed in computers, writing several blogs on the beauty of her beloved Seaward Inn on her newly aquired iPad. Although she embraced a stubborn persona and did not have a problem putting one in their place, she was an incredible person who loved life, her family, friends and above all, the Seaward Inn. In return, they all loved and appreciated her just as much. She will be greatly missed. Aside from her late husband, James Leal, she is survived by a brother and sister Alcides Padre of Gloucester and Mary Carrancho of New Bedford; two children Julie Marie Bubar and her husband, John Bubar of Rockport, and John H. Anderson III and his wife Kim Anderson, all of Rockport; five grandchildren, Sean Ketchopulos and his wife Shelby Ketchopulos, Chad Ketchopulos and his wife Leah Ketchopulos, Shayna Trupiano and her husband John Trupiano, all of Gloucester, Dustin Ketchopulos, Kailey Anderson, both of Rockport; eight great-grandchildren, Cameron, Colin, Andrew, Alexandra, Timothy, Gavin and Jackson Ketchopulos, and Owen Trupiano, all of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her former husband, John H. Anderson Jr. Funeral Services for Mrs. Leal will be held in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home, 201 Main St., Rockport, on Wednesday morning, January 18, 2012, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are cordially invited. Visiting hours in the Burgess & Mackey Funeral Home will be on Tuesday 4 – 7 pm. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
