Rosemarie Holevoet, 89, of Milan, IL died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Beulah Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1304 4th Street, Orion, IL. There will be an American Legion Auxiliary Service at 7 p.m. and all Auxiliary members are welcome to participate. Burial will be at Rural Township Cemetery at Beulah. In lieu of flowers, Rosemarie wishes for memorials to be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church.
Rosemarie was born on April 12, 1922 in Rural Township, IL the daughter of Jacob H. and Emma E. (Wiegel) Simmon. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1940 and married Richard A. Holevoet on June 30, 1945 in Milan. He preceded her in death in August of 1996. She, her husband, and father were dairy farmers and showed cattle at the Rock Island County Fair. Rosemarie was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church and former Sunday School secretary, and treasurer. She was the director of the Rock Island County Fair Board in charge of the Culinary Department of the Rock Island County Fair for over 20 years, as well as a member of 4-H and the Rock Island county Farm Bureau. Rosemarie was a 67 year member of Reynolds American Legion Auxiliary unit #1166 and also a past president of the Auxiliary. She was a 50 year member of Rock Island County 8/40 Salon 137. Rosemarie was also part of the Rock Island County Association for Home & Community Education.
