Ross G. Murphy, 85, Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 1, 2011. Ross was born on July 16, 1926, near Bremen, Indiana, to John C. and Gladys M. (Gray) Murphy. He attended Linkville Elementary School and graduated from La Paz High School in the Class of 1944. Ross entered the United States Navy, in June of 1944, and served in the South Pacific. He was discharged in June of 1946 and discharged from the Untied Naval Reserves on June 10, 1954. Ross was a fifty-year member of Masonic Lodge #79 of Rochester, Indiana and a York Rite member in South Bend, Indiana. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ross married Jean Medlock on November 16, 1947. They became parents of two children, David W. (1955) and Karen I. (1957). Ross was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, John L. Scofield; and his nephew, Brent L. Murphy. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his son, David (Colleen) Murphy of Scottsdale, Arizona; his daughter Karen Murphy (Dennis Holloway) of Plymouth; his brother, Otho (Bernice) Murphy of Plymouth; his grandchildren, Nicholas Murphy, Gregory Murphy, Jacob Richard, and Jackie (Billy) Wood; his step-grandson, Camden (Danae) Watts; and ten great-grandchildren.
