Roy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in numerous church positions including a mission in the East Central States, scouting, bishopric counselor, scouting, Bishop and more scouting!

He worked as an architectural illustrator for 30 years. He was an accomplished artist whose works have been seen in art galleries throughout the west.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, six children: Melissa (Chris) Hine, Bryce (Amy) Vellinga, Anthony (Leesa) Vellinga, Renae (Nathan) Staheli, Trisha (Steve) Robertson, Christa (Jack) Phillips, 14 grandchildren, six brothers and four sisters: Clarence, Clifford, Joyce, Lynn, Mike, Karen, Bruce, Janette, Mary, and Ross.
