Roy M. D'Aquila died peacefully at his home on January 29, 2012 at the age of 57. He was born in New Orleans on April 26, 1954 to his late father Vincent Anthony D'Aquila and his mother Antoinette D'Aquila. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1972, followed by an undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans and obtained a Juris Doctorate from Loyola University College of Law in 1979. Roy began his practice in Kenner, Louisiana and was serving as Managing Partner of the firm of D'Aquila, Mullins and Contreras, formerly DeMartini, LeBlanc, D'Aquila & Volk. He was a member of both the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Jefferson Parish Bar Association. He remained active both professionally and in his community of Jefferson Parish.
He was married to Linda Sanders D'Aquila on June 24, 1978 after growing up in Arabi, and they have made their home in Kenner since 1982. Roy was a father to Michael Vincent D'Aquila, age 30, and Laurie Anne D'Aquila, age 27, and father-in-law to Michael's wife Genevieve M. D'Aquila. Roy is survived by a host of nieces and nephews in his family and also considered members of the Standige and Sanders family to be his own. Roy's passion was simple, his family. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, relatives and neighbors. He will be dearly missed by many.
Visitation will begin Thursday, February 2nd at 10:00 A.M. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 P.M. at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., before entombment in the Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross High School. Please share your thoughts, fond memories and stories online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
