Ruth C. Boklund, 89, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at her home. She was born April 1, 1921 in LaPorte, Indiana, the daughter of Carl Schroeder and Minnie (Berker) Schroeder. Ruth lived all of her life in the LaPorte area. Ruth was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. On November 14, 1942, in LaPorte, IN, she married Eric R. Boklund, Sr. who preceded in death April 10, 1994. She is survived by her four daughters - Jacqueline Hitzeman of Fort Wayne, IN, Christine Nelson of La Porte, IN, Sharon Kroening of La Porte, IN, Teresa "Terri" (Jim) Dunlap of La Porte, IN; two sons - Eric "Rick" Boklund, Jr. of Mill Creek, IN, Mark (Kim) Boklund of Michigan City, IN; eight grandchildren - Matthew (Mary) Hitzeman of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Melinda (Drew) Koschmann of Holland, MI, Bailey Nelson of La Porte, IN, Elin and Eric Boklund of Mill Creek, IN, Sarah (Matthew) Derringer of Indianapolis, IN, Carl Dunlap of La Porte, IN, Andrew Boklund of Michigan City, IN; three great-grandchildren Phoebe & Joey Derringer of Indianapolis, IN, Luke Koschmann of Holland, MI; three beloved family friends; Paula Harris, Kristin Boklund, and Chris Nagel. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Bruce Boklund, sister, Henrietta Schroff and son-in-law, John Hitzeman. Arrangements are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, Ind. Private family service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday October 30, 2010, with Rev. Ronald A. Brauer officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worship for Shut-Ins, 5 Martin Luther Drive, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825.
