Ruth "Red" Cook was born July 25, 1935 in Camden, SC. She was one of ten children born to the late Robert and Elizabeth Cook. She was educated in the St. Matthew Elementary School in Kershaw County, SC and Jackson High School in Camden, SC. Ruth Cook was baptized at an early age, and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Camden, SC. Ruth relocated to Paterson, NJ and was employed by Riverside Laundry for many years until her illness got the best of her. Then she was placed in Wayne View Nursing Home until her death. Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, George, James and Haywood Cook; four sisters, Josephine Ingram, Margaret Dow, Blanch Woodhouse and Maude Kelly. She leaves to cherish fond memories: one sister, Polly Alexander; special friend, Sharon Bivins; devoted nephews, Anthony "Buddy" Ingram and Robert Cook; goddaughter, Cyvonne (Dee Dee) Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and neighbors.
