Ruth Ellen Red, age 93 of Little Rock, Arkansas died Monday, October 3, 2011. She was born in Altus, Arkansas to her late parents Archibald H. Hardgrave and Effie O. Hightower Hardgrave. Ruth enjoyed bird watching, bowling and fishing. In addition, she loved her church family, Thanksgiving holidays, working cross word puzzles and vacations at the Guard Camp on Lake Ouachita. Ruth was a member of Mabelvale United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Her most accomplished task was as a young lady, when she made a solo flight in an airplane.
Survivors include her daughter Ruth Ann Magness (L.D.) of Mabelvale, AR; brother Howard Hardgrave of Memphis, TN; two grandchildren, Barbara Ann Berry (Kevin) of Longview, TX and Jason Magness of Little Rock, AR; two great-grandchildren, Traci Ann Berry of Longview, TX and Logan Magness of Heber Springs, AR and numerous other family and friends that she loved and cared for. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick Red, three sisters, Lucille Holmes, Lorene Halter and Doris McLaughlin, and two brothers, Lloyd Hardgrave and Robert E. Hardgrave.
Funeral services will be 12:00pm on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman St, Mabelvale, AR (501) 455-2503 with Reverend Bob Marble officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy 5 North, Alexander, AR (501) 455-1067.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mabelvale United Methodist Church, 10500 Woodman St, Mabelvale, AR (501) 455-2503, Arkansas Rice Depot, 3801 W. 65th St. Little Rock, AR (501) 565-8855 and the Nature Conservancy, 601 University Ave, Little Rock, AR (501) 663-6699.
