Mrs. Ruth F. (Fritz) Statler, 81, of 977 Kauffman Road W, Greencastle, died at 9:15 P.M., Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in her home. She had been in failing health for the past two months. Born July 11, 1930 in Peters Township, Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Anna Mae (Graham) Fritz. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. Mrs. Statler graduated as the valedictorian of St. Thomas High School class of 1948. She and her husband of over 62 years, Roy E. Statler, were married on January 28, 1950. Mrs. Statler worked at Stanley Company in Chambersburg and for Lehman's Egg Service, retiring in 1980. However, she was a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting cook books, attending yard sales, and she was an avid John Wayne fan. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Robert L. Statler and his wife Nancy of Chambersburg, Charles A. Statler of Greencastle, Anna M. Cordell and her husband Donald of Mercersburg, and Alexander L. Statler of Greencastle; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald A. Fritz of Westfield, NY; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one step-great-grandson, Keith A. Carbaugh. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2012, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, with Rev. Merle G. Cordell officiating. Burial will follow in Brown's Mill Cemetery, near Greencastle. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday evening, in the funeral home.
