Ruth Vroman Gorius 69, of Lyndeborough, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 8, 2012 after a period of declining health.
She was born on May 28, 1943 in Corinth, NY, the daughter of Howard Vroman and Harriet Fensom Vroman.
Ruth graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. After raising her children, Ruth and her husband C. J. owned a nursery in Putney, VT for 15 years. Ruth was an accomplished horticulturist and managed a full service greenhouse as well as a gift store. She had a reputation for being able to grow the most difficult Wildflowers from seed that she had collected. Ruth retired when she moved to NH but still enjoyed growing wildflowers. She was a member of the American Horticultural Society and was also an active parishioner of The Divine Mercy Parish in Peterborough, NH.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 49 years, C.J. Gorius of Lyndeborough, her son Aaron Gorius and his wife Susan of Upton, MA, her daughter Doreen McAllister and her husband Mark of Westminster, VT, her daughter Jennifer Gosselin and her husband Keith of North Hampton, NH and by her sister Elizabeth (Vroman) Blanchard of Carmel, CA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, and Chelsea Gorius of Upton, MA and Erica and Tyson McAllister of Westminster, VT.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, November 13 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 14 at 10AM at Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough, NH with Reverend Gerald Belanger, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will take place on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 PM at St. Patrick's cemetery in Milford, NH.
Flowers are welcome, however, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Hospice at HCS, P.O. Box 654, Keene, NH 03431.
