Ballentine, Ruth Helene (nee Knade), beloved wife of David George, of Fayetteville, Pa passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA on 26 January 2012. Born May 4, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA Ruth was the daughter of Oscar W. Knade and Doris J. Utsch. Raised in Philadelphia, she lived in Warrington, PA and Farmington Hills, MI before retiring to Fayetteville, PA in 1996. For many years she worked as an administrative assistant and executive office assistant in banking and real estate establishments. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing in choral groups. Ruth was an active volunteer and church member in each community she resided, serving the community in hospitals, churches, senior homes and charitable groups. Churches included Disston Memorial, and St. Paul in PA, Orchard United in Michigan and Otterbein in Waynesboro, PA. Ruth loved calling on and helping people and took active roles on ambassador and evangelical teams. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and entertaining, creating special times of celebrations and themes to bring joy to others. She loved being outdoors, both to exercise and maintain her home site. She traveled the world with her husband, Dave, and made many long-time friendships in other countries. Family members in Germany were especially dear to her. Ruth loved celebrating life, music and God and gives thanks to all who shared life and helped alongside her in these activities, and aided her in her time of need. Surviving are husband David G. of Fayetteville, two sons, Keith D. of Crofton, MD and Kevin P. of Tujunga, CA, brother Dr. Oscar Knade of Montoursville, PA and sister Doris Hinchcliffe of Pennsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers please direct donations to Otterbein church (801 Park Street, Waynesboro, PA. 17268) and/or the CVBCA (Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Alliance, 1215 Prairie Dr., Chambersburg, PA. 17202) in memory of Ruth. Ruth's life celebrated helping others and she would also ask that others do something special for someone else in her honor. A memorial Service of Praise will be held at Otterbein Church of Waynesboro, PA at 3:00pm on 29 January 2012, followed by a meal at the church. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Services are under the direction of Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, PA.
