Ruth Madeline Hopkins, 82, of Westminster, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Transitions Health Care, Sykesville, after an extended illness. Born April 21, 1926 in Daisy, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Sr. and Maggie Ann Robinson Hopkins. Ms. Hopkins was a member of Abundant Life Church of God, New Windsor and was formerly employed at Rosewood. She enjoyed cooking, baking, tending to her flowers and plants, and watching oil painting instructional television shows. Surviving are daughter, Ruth Ann Williams and husband Larry of Taneytown; sons, George C. Hopkins of Reisterstown, Walter C. Hopkins of Westminster, Terry Lee Hopkins of Laurel; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Floyd Hopkins; sisters, Mae Latimer and Ethel Roberts; and brothers, George, William, Clifton and Carroll Hopkins. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, with the Rev. Mary Ann Churchey, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
