Ruth Jeanette Campana, age 94, of 222 S. Fifth Street Marquette, entered eternal life on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette following several strokes. She was born in Iron River Michigan on October 10, 1917 to Joseph and Mae (Deloria) Znorski. Ruth graduated from Iron River High School in 1935 and married John P. Campana in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1966. Ruth and John lived in the Copper Country and Munising and since 1966, Ruth had been a Marquette resident. She worked at Wolff's Sewing Center, Finncraft and Touch of Finland. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Marquette General Hospital Gift Shop. She was an active member of St. Peter's Cathedral and its Altar Society. She was an avid Packer fan. Surviving are her children, Mary Gibbs Deloria of Iron Mountain, Julie (Edward) Johnsonbaugh of Laingsburg, MI, Robert (Mary Jo) Campana of Reedsville, WI, and Jane Hart of Muskegon, MI. Grandchildren include Tad (Sara) Campana, Jessie (Alex) Judy, Chrissy (Scott) Neumann, Rebecca (Carl) Gebhardt, Nathan Hart, John (Kris) Campana, Zach Campana, Maggie Hart and Ben Campana. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and special cousins, Larry and Marie Deloria. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; twin baby sons, John and Paul; her husband, John, and her sisters, Marguerite Emerson and Betty Vallar. A Funeral Mass will be held in celebration of her life at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at St. Peter's Cathedral. Visitation will take place in the Bishop's Room of the cathedral one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be made at Rest Haven Cemetery in Iron River on Friday. The family would like to thank the Marquette General Hospital Rehab staff, Lake Superior Hospice and Norlite for the tender care they provided Ruth. Contributions may be made in her name to St. Peter's Cathedral Altar Society, Our Faith in the Future Campaign c/o Diocese of Marquette, or Lake Superior Hospice.
