Ruth Margarete Gerberding passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2011, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on October 16, 1935 to Margarete Marie Paeschel and Fritz Wilhelm Bernau in Schoenlanke, Prussia, and grew up in Delitzsch bei Leipzig in East Germany. She married William (Willie) Gerberding on Aug 6, 1955 in Mannheim, West Germany, and their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1957. She was a dedicated wife and mother, whose greatest joys came from serving others. She was a gifted pianist, and her love for music blessed her home and the lives of her family.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 2:00 pm in the Brighton 4th Ward chapel at 2301 East Bengal Blvd (7600 S). A viewing will be held at12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3115 East Bengal Blvd.
