Ruth Mary Schippers (Thomas), 95, died Monday, October 24, 2011. She was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, May 14, 1916 and moved to Albuquerque in 1952. She is survived by a daughter, Margaret M. Johnson; three sons, James J. and wife, Janet; Jay P. and wife, Lorraine; Joseph F. and wife, Kim; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Mary Ann Thomas. Ruth's son, Jack, preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1998. Ruth was a member of the Senior Citizen's Center and the Red Hat Society. She loved to swim and dance and won gold medals at the Senior Citizen's State Olympics. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, with a reception to follow. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity in Ruth's name.
