Ruth (Oliver) Roberts Miss Ruth Oliver Roberts, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at her home following a brief illness. Born in Boston, MA on September 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William M. and Marion Cole Oliver. She received her Masters in Teaching from Boston University. She retired from teaching at Malden High School in 1983. "Ruthie" had a long history of summers on Merchants Island in Gloucester and enjoyed sailing as a member of Sandy Bay Yacht Club in Rockport. An avid volunteer, she spent many hours at the Addison Gilbert Hospital Gift Shop. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert W. Oliver of Rockport. She is survived by two nieces, Nancy Oliver Caswell of Jaffrey, NH and Jean Oliver Leavitt of Rockport, MA; three great-nephews, Joshua Nish of Inwood, WV, Andrew Wancheck of Beverly, MA, Matthew Leavitt of Rockport, MA; two great-nieces, Leanne Wancheck of Dover, NH and Jennifer Leavitt of Rockport, MA and several cousins. Ruth had many caring and loving friends from her years of life "on the river" and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Graveside Service will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm Street, Everett, MA on Wednesday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m. Relatives, friends and acqaintances are cordially invited to attend.
