Sally Lou (Grunz) Johnson, age 74, of Alliance, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.
She was born May 8, 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia, and moved to Canton, Ohio where she attended Canton McKinley High School.
Sally earned her R. N. degree from the Massillon City Hospital School for Nursing, and worked at Alliance Community Hospital in the Obstetrics Department, and then in the Oncology Department.
After she retired from nursing, she taught medical transcription classes through Alliance City Schools Adult Classes.
Sally was a long-time Alliance resident and very active in the community. She was a member of the Alliance Jay-Cees, YWCA, Carnation City Players, Alliance Woman's Club, Quota Club, and Tennysonians. Sally was also a very active member of First United Presbyterian Church in Alliance, where she served as Clerk of Session.
Sally was the beloved wife of Ted Everett Johnson I, for 54 years, dearest mother of Laura (Donald) Joss; Ted (Shari) Johnson II, and Amy Jo (Brad) Cromer; dear daughter of Sarah Kirkland (deceased), dear sister of John Paul Grunz, and Richard T. Grunz; grandmother of David T. (Jenna) Joss, Melanie (Chad) Russo, Ted Johnson III, Dane Johnson, Courtney Cromer, and Logan Cromer; and great-grandmother of Cooper, Dylan and Greyson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at First United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Sally's name to the American Cancer Society, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield, Ohio 44406.
