Sam Savia died peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Born in Vienna, VA, he had a strong commitment and connection to the town and his family and friends there. He was a 70 year volunteer for the Vienna Fire Department, an over 50 year member of the Vienna Host Lion's Club, an integral part in the beginning days of Vienna Little League baseball where he managed and umpired for many years, and an active member and usher for St. Mark's church. He had a kind, generous and easy spirit. He will be dearly missed by the many his life touched. He was preceded in death by his son, David Savia, sister Esther Moreland and brothers Phillip and Alfred. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gertrude Savia, his daughters Lynn Perkins and husband David of Burke, VA , Karen Savia of Richmond, VA, and Mary Savia of Fairfax City, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Antoinette Lynch, nieces, nephews and many friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Vienna Volunteer Fire department or Evercare Hospice.
