Sammy W. Vest, 62, of Kingston, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born January 10, 1948 in Knoxville, TN. He retired from the Department of Energy, K-25, where he worked for 28 years. Mr. Vest was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Vest; Grandmother, Marie Vest; father, William Vest Jr; brother, Johnny Vest, Sister, Denise Vest; Uncles, Leroy Vest and Bob Vest; and aunt, Pat Heatherington. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Travis and husband Beau of Lenoir City, Danny Vest and wife Tina of Knoxville and Angela Sumner and husband, Don of Oak Ridge; Grandchildren, Blake and Taylor Travis, Daniel and Brandon Vest, Whitney, Lindsey and Courtney Brackins; Great Grandchildren, Reece Price, Jaxon and Emerson Brackins; Sisters, Dana Vest, Terry Volk and Toni Fransico; Mother, Audrey Ragle; Stepmother, Mary Ruth Vest; The mother of his children, Barbara Vest; Aunt, Azolene Vest; Uncles, Larry Vest and wife Jenny and Jimmy Vest and wife Shirley; And his dear friends, Charles Phillips and Howard McNeal. In celebration of his life, his family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 6 – 8pm at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 8pm with Rev. Steve Peek officiating. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Oak Ridge Boys Club. An on-line guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
